At London 2012, the brothers Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee won Gold and Bronze respectively in the Triathlon. The Triathlon in London consisted of a 1500m swim in the Serpentine, a 40km bike ride followed by a 10km run in Hyde Park. The pair did even better at Rio 2016 finishing with another Gold for Alistair and Silver for Jonny - making them the first ever British brothers to finish first and second in an individual event at the Olympic Games.

Alistair used to swim and run when he was young and at age 11, he was introduced to the sport of Triathlon by his uncle. National, European and World titles followed at Junior level. In 2009, Alistair was crowned World Champion aged just 21.

In 2011, he won the European Championships for the second time. Alistair originally got a place at Cambridge to study medicine but decided to stay closer to home instead, completing a degree in Sports Science and Physiology at Leeds University.

Jonny Alistair's younger brother by two years is also a Triathlete. He trains with his brother which gives him a great advantage. Jonny has won a huge range of Junior Championships and in 2012, he was ranked number two in the World Championship Series. He is also studying at university.

The brothers are extremely close despite the intense competition between them: "We live together, train together and go out together - but mostly it's great." Jonny has now moved out and bought his own place, which Alistair claims will be very strange!

The brothers are also ambassadors for our Get Set+ programme, Get Set to Eat Fresh, with Aldi and Team GB, which aims to inspire young people to enjoy healthy, fresh food.
