Here are a few other things none of us expected:
- That the sun would shine for most of the time!
- That the more than 70,000 Games Makers who volunteered to take on a vast array of roles - and without whom London 2012 couldn't have happened - would prove so popular with athletes, spectators and organisers alike? At both Closing Ceremonies, the Games Makers received prolonged standing ovations which Sebastian Coe said would probably have lasted for an hour if he hadn't started talking!
- That the spectators would be quite so powerful in helping Team GB and ParalympicsGB to put in such strong performances; and that Jonnie Peacock would have the power to control an Olympic Stadium full to capacity with a single gesture asking respectfully for quiet
- That the soundtrack of the Opening Ceremony's 'Isle of Wonder' would go to number 1 in the download charts.
