KEY INFORMATION
Recommended age group: 7–14
Time required: two 45–60 min sessions
Equipment: Band together information and activity sheets and/ or Wearable colours activity sheets, art materials to make and decorate a wristband, textiles equipment (optional) reference materials for research into Brazilian culture.
ACTIVITY IDEA
This activity aims to help young people show their support for Team GB and Paralympics GB in a fun and creative way. They will research the different ways people have supported the games in the past and aspects of Brazilian culture. They will then design and make their own supporter’s wristband, or another piece of wearable supporter's merchandise.
The Band Together design challenge or Wear the Colours design challenge can be completed over two sessions: a research and design activity, followed by a creative design session.
DIFFERENTIATION
Younger and less able children can be paired with others to help with the research and can express their ideas in simple designs. Older students can research in more detail to include verbal messages in their design and two or more elements of Brazilian culture.
